South African Airways adjusts Washington DC frequencies

South African Airways (SAA) will adjust the frequencies on its flights between Africa and Washington Dulles International Airport. The airline currently offers two direct routes to the capital of the United States.

SAA will increase the frequency on its flights between Johannesburg, with a stop at Accra’s Kotoka International Airport, and Washington Dulles International Airport to five flights weekly, starting on April 1, 2019. This service was previously operated four times a week.

SAA continues to see growing demand for our nonstop Accra service and this increase in our frequency will give our business and leisure customers more options. Our service between Accra and Washington-Dulles has been a resounding success from its inception in 2015 and we are very pleased to further develop the route with the introduction of a fifth weekly flight. The flag carrier of South Africa offers the only nonstop flight between Ghana and Washington. The service will be operated by Airbus A330-300 wide-body aircraft, replacing the current mix of Airbus A330-200, A330-300, as well as A340 airplanes, on the route.

Furthermore, the Star Alliance member operates flights from Washington Dulles via Dakar, Senegal to Johannesburg. This connection will be reduced from three to two flights per week and is operated by Airbus A330-200 and -300.

In addition to the services to Washington, SAA flies to New York on a daily basis. Sao Paulo, London, Frankfurt, Munich, Hong Kong and Perth are also part of South African Airways’ long-haul route network.
