At the Paris Air Show, Australian carrier Qantas and Airbus have signed an agreement to purchase nine additional Airbus A220 aircraft. Qantas already has outstanding orders for 20 of the type including the smaller A220-100 and larger A220-300 variant, with deliveries due to start later in 2023. No specific model was specified for this new order.
According to Airbus CCO Christian Scherer, Qantas plans to deploy the type on domestic routes throughout Australia and these new aircraft will help the airline achieve its climate goals.
