Alaska Airlines postpones services from Paine Field

Alaska Airlines has postponed its scheduled operations at Paine Field-Snohomish County Airport in Everett, Washington, until March 2019. First flights were initially planned to commence on February 11.

Certification and oversight work is required for the start of commercial air service at Paine Field. Because of the ongoing government shutdown, essential work groups within the FAA are currently furloughed. Therefore, the newly scheduled start of service is subject to receipt of all required government approvals. Even further delays are expected if the shutdown continues.

We know our guests who purchased tickets to and from Paine Field will be disappointed by this delay – so are we. There are certain things that are simply out of our control. We apologize if your travel plans need to change. But we remain eager and committed to giving you – our loyal guests – a much-needed airport alternative north of Seattle, and a great experience. Alaska Airlines will offer services to eight destinations from Everett’s Paine Field Airport. The following cities will be served: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orange County (CA), Phoenix, Portland (OR), San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose (CA).

The routes will be operated by Alaska Airlines’ subsidiary Horizon Air. The carrier’s fleet consists of 40 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 and 20 Embraer E175.
