Canadian carrier Air Transat has received its first of fifteen Airbus A321LR aircraft. The airline becomes the first North American operator of the long-range version of the A321neo.
The Montréal-based airline leases the A321LR aircraft through a long-term deal with leasing company AerCap. Its brand new jets, which are equipped with a total of 199 seats in a two-class configuration, will mainly replace the aging fleet of Airbus A310 aircraft. The second Airbus A321LR is set to be delivered in June, with four more arriving in fall 2019. Additionally, Air Transat has two Airbus A321neo jets on order. The carrier says it plans to operate an all-Airbus fleet by 2022.
In addition to the Airbus A310 and the A321LR, Air Transat currently has Airbus A321 and A330, as well as Boeing 737 aircraft in service.
