Italian airline Ernest Airlines has suspended all of its remaining flight operations as of Saturday.
Italy’s National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) announced on December 29th that it would suspend the carrier’s licence by January 13th. This is because the airline does not meet certain requirements, however, details of this have not been publicly disclosed.
Ernest has confirmed that it is unable to operate any flights due to the suspension of its operating certificate. The Milan-based airline did not manage to make a turnaround on the points required by ENAC.
Until now, 2017-founded Ernest Airlines (2015 as Fly Ernest) operated a fleet of one Airbus A319 and three A320, all aircraft have been returned to their lessors. It planned an expansion which would have seen the carrier add further A320s.
