Eurowings to start long-haul flights from Frankfurt

Low-cost carrier Eurowings will commence long-haul flights from Frankfurt Airport in October 2019. This will be the first-ever presence of the Lufthansa subsidiary at the busiest airport in Germany.

Today, Lufthansa Group is already one of the largest holiday travel providers in all of Europe. Demand is increasing rapidly, especially in this area. It is therefore only consistent that we offer an additional product line in Frankfurt and expand our portfolio in Munich. This will help us to further strengthen our position. Eurowings currently offers long-haul services from Dusseldorf and Munich. As soon as the winter flight schedule goes into effect in October 2019, Eurowings will start flights from Frankfurt to the island destinations Mauritius and Barbados. Furthermore, there will be flights to Windhoek in Namibia. Additional destinations are currently being planned.

The low-cost airline will also add a new destination from its existing hub at Munich Airport: In the 2019/2020 winter schedule, Eurowings will connect the Bavarian capital with Bangkok.

The long-haul flights are operated by Airbus A330-200 and A330-300 aircraft. The Airbus A330-200s are operated by Sun Express Germany, whereas the larger A330-300s are operated by Brussels Airlines on behalf of the low-cost carrier.
