Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier Volaris has been revealed as the customer behind an order for 25 Airbus A321neo, which were previously attributed to an unidentified customer. The Indigo Partners backed airline now has a total of 143 Airbus A320neo family aircraft on order and already operates 70 of them, including both the A320neo and A321neo.
Volaris CEO Enrique Beltranena stated: “These A321neos will support our long-term business viability and sustainability strategy, while moving us closer to operating an all-NEO fleet by 2028.” He added that these aircraft would help facilitate growth throughout Central America and to the United States, though the latter is dependent on the FAA reinstating Mexico’s safety rating to Level 1.
