Low-cost carrier Volotea has retired its last remaining Boeing 717 aircraft. The airline was the last European operator of the Boeing 717 jet.
The Spanish airline introduced the 125-seat aircraft type in 2011. Over the years, Volotea had about 20 Boeing 717 aircraft in service.
From now on, the carrier only operates Airbus A319 aircraft. In May 2019, Volotea announced the addition of six A319 jets to its fleet. In the same year, Volotea took over the shuttle route for Airbus employees between the production sites in Hamburg and Toulouse. German carrier Germania, the previous operator on this route, ceased operations in 2019.
