Dubai-based regional airline and Emirates’ sister airline flyDubai announced a firm order for its first ever wide body aircraft during the Dubai Air Show. The deal includes 30 Boeing 787-9 aircraft with no delivery timeline announced.
The Chairman of flyDubai, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said the addition of the Boeing 787 to his airline’s fleet would enable it “to expand its horizon and cater to the growing demand on existing routes.” This already is the second sale of Boeing 787 Dreamliner to an airline in the UAE during the Dubai Air Show, after Boeing and Emirates announced a deal for a further five of the type, along with a reshuffled order book for the existing 30 aircraft Emirates has on order.
Currently, flyDubai operates a fleet consisting exclusively of Boeing 737 family aircraft and has a further 137 of various 737 Max variants on order.
