Virgin Atlantic announces flights to South America

Virgin Atlantic has announced that it will start flights to South America in 2020. It will be the airline’s debut into the South American continent.

Operating with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, the British carrier will start a new service between London Heathrow and São Paulo next year.

The route between the cities is currently served by two airlines: British Airways and LATAM Brasil. The British flag-carrier offers two services on this route, operated by Boeing 777-300ER and 787-9 Dreamliner jets, whereas LATAM’s daily flight is exclusively operated by Boeing 777-300ER.

Virgin Atlantic’s long-haul fleet consists of Airbus A330 (both A330-200 and A330-300), A340-600, as well as Boeing 747-400 and 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. In 2019, Virgin Atlantic will welcome the first four Airbus A350-1000 to its fleet.
