airBaltic adds new leisure destinations to its network

Latvian airline airBaltic has announced that it will add two new leisure destinations to its network for the summer season of 2019.

Starting in May, airBaltic will start scheduled flights to the Mediterranean islands of Kos and Menorca.

Flights to both destinations will be operated once a week by Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

Latvia’s flag-carrier will launch at least 8 new routes this year. Last year, the airline announced new direct routes from Riga to Stuttgart and Lviv, which will both begin this year. The route to Stuttgart will be operated by A220-300s, whereas the new service to Lviv is scheduled to be operated by Dash 8 turboprop aircraft. airBaltic currently serves over 70 destinations from Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius.

The airline’s current fleet consists of 34 aircraft; 14 Airbus A220-300, eight Boeing 737 and twelve Bombardier Dash 8 Q400. airBaltic has 36 more Airbus A220, plus an additional 30 purchase options for the aircraft type on order.
