South American based airline group LATAM has placed an order for 17 Airbus A321neo aircraft and has committed to also ordering A321XLRs.
LATAM already has orders for 83 A320neo family aircraft, with today’s order announcement bringing the total to 100. The airline group is also a long-time operator of A320ceo family aircraft. The A321XLR is the longest range variant of the jetmaker’s most popular aircraft family and is seen universally as the closest aircraft to replace the venerable Boeing 757 in terms of market space.
Whilst talking about the commitment to A321XLR aircraft, Christian Scherer, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International said “The A321XLR will enable the opening of new routes and will allow LATAM to increase its international reach in the region”.
