The first Airbus A320neo for Colombian low-cost carrier Viva Air has rolled out in Toulouse. The aircraft is wearing a new livery.
Viva’s first A320neo is painted almost entirely in yellow, with only a stylized title and design elements being in green. Previously, Viva Air Colombia’s livery was mostly white, with red engines and yellow, red and blue ‘bubbles’.
It was not immediately clear when the first A320neo, unveiled on Thursday, would join the fleet of Viva Air, given the current economic situation. It will receive the registration HK-5352 once delivered.
The budget airline is operating a fleet of more than 20 standard Airbus A320, of which half are currently grounded due to the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. International flights have been temporarily banned by the Colombian government as a measure to avoid the spread of Covid-19. This restriction has a heavy impact on the country’s airlines, including flag-carrier Avianca. It is not yet clear when international operations are permitted to restart. Viva Air says it is still awaiting government approval.
