German airline Lufthansa has revealed new international destinations from its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich.
From Frankfurt the airline will add flights to St. Louis in the United States, as well as continental destinations Liverpool (UK), Rennes (France) and Stavanger (Norway). The connection from St. Louis to Frankfurt will be the first intercontinental connection from the city in Missouri since WOW Air briefly served Reykjavik in 2018 and TWA merged with American Airlines some 20 years ago. Most routes will operate with less than daily frequencies and will commence in June 2022.
Munich will see the addition of flights to Bergen (Norway), Billund (Denmark), Brindisi (Italy), Kalamata (Greece), Mahon (Spain) and Varna (Bulgaria). New intercontinental destinations from the southern hub in Bavaria are Rio de Janeiro and San Diego which will be operated by Airbus A350 aircraft. A route to Bangkok is also being restarted.
At the same time the airline announced new destinations for its leisure-focused subsidiary Eurowings Discover, which in addition to taking over many holiday destinations from Lufthansa itself, will start new routes to Victoria Falls (Zambia) and Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) from Frankfurt. Cancun (Mexico), Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) and Las Vegas (US) will see new flights from Munich.
