EasyJet has confirmed it has firmed up former order options for 56 Airbus A320neo family aircraft.
In a press conference on day three of Farnborough International Airshow, EasyJet’s CFO, Kenton Jarvis announced the European low-cost-carrier has firmed up 56 orders for A320neo and A321neo aircraft. Included in this order is a conversion of 18 options for A320neos to A321neo. The aircraft will continue to be powered by the CFM Leap engines, and help drive the airline closer to its commitments to reduce C02 emissions, when compared to the airline’s older A320ceo family aircraft.
The airline plans to retire its older and smaller A319 aircraft in the next 5 years. Upgrading to larger aircraft allows for increased capacity options without increasing slots at already busy airports.
