At the Dubai Airshow 2019 on Tuesday, aircraft lessor GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) placed an order for twelve Airbus A330neo and 20 A321XLR aircraft. The A321XLR order includes the conversion of seven previous A321 orders to the A321XLR and adding an additional five new aircraft.

GECAS opted for the longer A330-900neo. The shorter variant of the Airbus A330neo, the A330-800neo, has only ten orders to date, made up of two from Uganda Airlines and eight for Kuwait Airways.

According to Airbus, after this order, GECAS will own a total of 45 A330 family aircraft and 588 A320 family aircraft, that are in use with airline operators all over the world.

Regarding the order, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer, Christian Scherer, issued the following statement: “Having one of the world’s most respected and influential lessors invest in the A321XLR and the A330neo, speaks volumes on their global appeal, versatility and solid value as an asset. Airbus thanks GECAS on its wise investment and endorsement of the A330neo.
