Helvetic Airways has taken delivery of its first Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. The airline becomes the third operator of the new aircraft type, after launch customer Wideroe and Air Astana.
In addition to the newly delivered aircraft, Helvetic Airways has a further eleven Embraer E190-E2 jets on order. The airline has purchase rights for an additional twelve E190-E2s. This option can also be converted into the slightly larger Embraer E195-E2 type. The first aircraft of the E2’s longer variant has recently been delivered to launch customer Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras.
Helvetic Airways currently operates an all-Embraer fleet of Embraer E190s, which will gradually be replaced by the new generation Embraer E2 jets. Helvetic’s last remaining Fokker 100 aircraft were retired in summer 2019. Besides the aforementioned aircraft types, the airline operated Airbus A319 and McDonnell Douglas MD-83 jets in the past.
