Emirates announced it has recently taken delivery of its first Airbus A380 equipped with a brand new Premium Economy cabin from the Airbus production site in Hamburg.

On Tuesday, Emirates revealed the long-awaited new cabin to the public. The seats, which are manufactured by Recaro, are arranged in a 2-4-2 configuration for a total of 56 seats in the section. The new mini-cabin is situated at the front of the lower deck of the A380 and has its own three bathrooms. With 40 inches of legroom between seat rows Emirates, offers slightly more legroom than other airlines, who usually only feature between 35 and 38 inches of legroom in their Premium Economy cabins. Other seat amenities include an industry-standard 13.3 inch personal IFE screen and eight inches of recline.

However, the new Premium Economy cabin is not the only thing that has been changed compared to older A380 of the airline. Emirates refurbished the First Class seats and showers, updated its Business Class product and fitted its Economy Class with new and more modern seats and amenities.

Emirates plans to take delivery of five additional A380 in 2021 featuring this new cabin, which will also be installed on some of its upcoming Boeing 777X aircraft, tentatively scheduled to arrive in 2023. Additionally, there are plans to refurbish some but not all existing Airbus A380 with the new cabin.
