Air France-KLM orders Airbus A220

The Air France-KLM Group has signed a commitment to order sixty A220-300 aircraft, which will join Air France’s fleet. Furthermore, the deal includes purchase options for an additional 30 Airbus A220 jets and acquisition rights for a further 30 A220s.

Deliveries are expected to start in September 2021. Air France plans to deploy the A220 on its short- and medium-haul routes. The aircraft will gradually replace the airline’s current Airbus A318 and A319 fleet. According to the French flag-carrier, the former Bombardier CS300 aircraft will reduce the cost per seat by more than 10% compared to the aircraft it will replace.

Air France currently operates a fleet Airbus A318, A319, A320 and A321 aircraft on short- and medium-haul services. Additionally, regional flights are operated by Air France HOP.
