Russian S7 Airlines has been suspended from the Oneworld airline alliance.

The carrier says this decision is effective until further notice as of April 19th, and was made by both parties. Oneworld has removed the S7 Airlines logo from its websites.

Little over one month ago, on March 17th, Oneworld CEO Rob Gurney said at a press conference that it is not up to the alliance to make decisions regarding S7 Airlines. When asked by International Flight Network, Gurney explained that it is up to the individual member airlines to evaluate the situation and make their own independent decisions.

At the time, Rob Gurney declined to comment whether he would find it appropriate to suspend S7’s alliance membership.

S7 Airlines was a member of the Oneworld alliance since 2010. Amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, various countries have responded with sanctions, which heavily affect Russian airlines. This led many international airlines, including several Oneworld members, to cancel their partnership agreements, such as codeshares, with Russian carriers.
