On Wednesday, Malta Air, a subsidiary of Ryanair, took delivery of its first Boeing 737 Max 200 (9H-VUE). Its parent company has already received two 737 Max 200 and expects ten more Boeing 737 Max jets this summer. Until the summer of 2022, Ryanair plans to expand its fleet by 50 new Boeing 737 Max 200 aircraft.

In order to increase its efficiency, the European carrier selected the Max 200, a high-density variant of the 737 Max 8. It allows low cost-carriers to configure their cabins with more seats. The airline’s new layout has a total of 197 seats, compared to the 189 seats on the previous-generation 737-800. After two fatal accidents, followed by a worldwide grounding of the 737 Max family, Ryanair re-branded its 737 Max 200 to “737-8200”.

Malta Air (not to be confused with Air Malta) is a Maltese subsidiary of Ireland-headquartered low-cost carrier Ryanair and exclusively operates Boeing 737 jets on behalf of Ryanair.
