Lufthansa Group has taken the decision to temporarily suspend flights to Kiev and Odesa in Ukraine, the company confirmed on Saturday (19th February).
Effective Monday, this will affect Lufthansa, Swiss and Austrian Airlines flights to Kiev, as well as Austrian Airlines flights to Odesa. The suspension will last at least until the end of February, a company spokesperson tells International Flight Network. Routes to Lviv in Western Ukraine will continue to be operated.
This comes one week after KLM became the first European airline to halt its flights to and from the eastern European country amid security concerns. European governments warn that Russia could start a military attack on Ukraine at any time. On Saturday, the German foreign ministry urged its citizens to leave Ukraine as soon as possible.
