Lufthansa flights are expected to be affected on Sunday, as German union ‘Ufo’, which represents flight attendants of the airline, announced a strike Monday noon.
The warning strike would take place at both hubs of the German flag-carrier, Frankfurt and Munich. It will last for only five hours, from 6 am to 11 am local time.
Lufthansa states it aims to keep up full flight operations on Sunday. The airline accuses Ufo of announcing this strike illegally, due to an unclear situation regarding the board and representation of the union.
Ufo (Unabhängige Flugbegleiter Organisation) is demanding a pay raise of at least 1.8% for the Lufthansa flight attendants it represents.
This strike only affects mainline Lufthansa, not its subsidiaries which include Swiss, Austrian Airlines and Eurowings. The Lufthansa Group is the largest airline group in Europe, operating a fleet of almost 800 aircraft and carrying more than 142 million passengers in 2018.
