Peruvian Airlines has suspended all flight operations due to liquidity issues.
The carrier published a statement on its website in Spanish, informing about the situation and apologizing to affected passengers. All flights have been cancelled until further notice.
This suspension of operations follows financial difficulties of the airline during recent days. It had already temporarily ceased operations on Monday, after being unable to pay fuel charges due to a lack of funds. The liquidity issues come after bank accounts of the airline were frozen by government authorities.
Peruvian says it was unable to return from the challenging situation and had no other option but to suspend flights. The airline is now looking for an investor in order to resume operations.
The Lima-based carrier was flying a fleet of ten Boeing 737, consisting of -300, -400 and -500 variants. It had codeshare agreements in place with Aerolineas Argentinas and Panama’s Copa Airlines.
