Silk Way West Airlines and Boeing have announced an order for five Boeing 777 freighter aircraft.
According to the purchase agreement, the cargo jets will be delivered between 2023 and 2027. The Azerbaijani cargo carrier plans to increase its capacity to meet growing cargo demand in the coming years.
Silk Way West Airlines was founded in 2012 and is based at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku. The carrier’s current all-Boeing fleet consists of 747-400 and 747-8 airplanes. It also operated Boeing 767-300 freighter aircraft until 2015.
Boeing launched its 777 freighter programme about fifteen years ago. So far, 247 Boeing 777 cargo jets have been ordered by customers around the world.
