China Airlines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for three Boeing 777 freighter aircraft, with purchase options for three more.
According to the airline, the three agreed Boeing 777F with a combined list price of more than US $1 billion, will mainly fly to European and North American destinations.
China Airlines, one of the two main carriers of Taiwan, already runs a fleet of ten Boeing 777-300ER jets. Besides, the airline operates Boeing 737-800 and 747-400 (both in cargo and passenger versions). Some of the latter cargo aircraft will be replaced by the brand new Boeing 777F.
Additionally, China Airlines is an Airbus customer and operates A330-300 and A350-900 jets. The Taipei-based airline also has 25 Airbus A321neo on order, to replace its fleet of Boeing 737.
