Garuda Indonesia has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330neo jet. The brand new A330-900neo aircraft is registered as PK-GHE and was delivered to the Indonesian carrier on Saturday.

The airline firmed up an order for 14 Airbus A330neo aircraft in 2016. The order replaced and extended an existing order for seven A330-300 jets. Furthermore, the carrier’s low-cost subsidiary Citilink will receive two A330neo airplanes.
Garuda Indonesia plans to use the A330neo to develop its medium and long haul network. The airline’s A330neo features a two-class configuration for a total of 301 passengers.
In addition to Airbus A330 (-200, -300 and -900neo) aircraft, Garuda’s widebody fleet consists of Boeing 777-300ER. Its main short and medium haul fleet consists of Boeing 737, including a single, currently grounded 737 MAX, which Garuda received before Boeing stopped deliveries. It was reported that the airline cancelled its 49 outstanding orders for the Boeing 737 MAX in March. Smaller aircraft (CRJ and ATR) are operated under its regional brand ‘Garuda Indonesia Explore’
