Chinese national carrier Air China has placed an order for a further 20 A350-900 aircraft from Airbus.
The deal is worth US$6.5 billion according to list prices and deliveries will commence in 2020 and run through 2022. Air China has also signed up to possibly convert the last five A350-900 orders to the larger A350-1000 variant.
Air China already has a fleet of ten A350-900 and operates several other Airbus aircraft, mainly A320 family aircraft and over 50 A330 aircraft. Additionally, Air China also has over 100 Boeing 737 family aircraft, 10 Boeing 747, 28 Boeing 777-300ER and 14 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in its almost 420-aircraft strong fleet. It also has 20 Chinese made Comac C919 on order.
This new order comes after an extensive drought of orders for the A350, the last sale of the type were 20 A350 to the Lufthansa Group in March.
