Alaska Airlines will start scheduled operations from and to Paine Field-Snohomish County Airport in Everett, Washington, in February 2019. Subject to government approval, the first scheduled flights, operated by Horizon Air’s Embraer E175 aircraft, will depart on February 11.
“Alaska Airlines flew from Paine Field back in the 1940s and 50s. We’re excited to have the airline return to Everett,” said Brett Smith, chief executive officer of Propeller Airports, the company which built a brand new terminal at the airport for commercial operations. “We’re ready to join with Alaska to provide terrific service to our guests.”
The airline recently acquired five additional gate times from Southwest Airlines as the airline reversed its decision to operate out of Everett. Therefore, Alaska Airlines is able to offer 18 daily nonstop flights between Paine Field and eight airports. The following cities will be served: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orange County (CA), Phoenix, Portland (OR), San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose (CA).
After the initial start of service in February, the planned daily flight frequencies will increase over the course of several weeks, the airline announced.
Horizon Air is a subsidiary of Alaska Airlines Group. It operates 40 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 and 20 Embraer E175 on lower-demand routes for the main carrier. Another 32 E175 jets, which are flying for Alaska, are operated by Utah-based SkyWest Airlines, the largest regional carrier in the United States.
