German leisure carrier Condor has signed an order for 41 Airbus A320neo family aircraft with the European manufacturer. The deal consists of 13 A320neo and 28 A321neo.
Condor will replace its existing fleet of 16 Airbus A320, 10 A321 and 13 Boeing 757-300 with these new aircraft, which are going to be delivered from 2024 onwards and will be equipped with Pratt&Whitney engines. However, no seating configuration has been announced yet.
Ralf Teckentrup, CEO of Condor, said in a statement: “After modernizing our long-haul fleet by 2024 the next logical step is to also replace our short- and medium-haul fleet. With these new airplanes we logically develop our fleet, as well as our company as we continue on our promise to make travel comfortable and sustainable with much reduced CO2 emissions, less fuel usage and less noise emissions.”
Condor is a German leisure airline operating flights to European holiday destinations and long-haul flights to other popular vacation spots around the world. It was founded in 1955 and was previously a Lufthansa subsidiary, before being sold to now-defunct Thomas Cook. An investment group took control of Condor in 2021 after a deal with LOT Polish Airlines fell through. In 2021, the airline ordered 16 A330neo to replace its ageing fleet of Boeing 767-300 with the first one due in autumn of 2022.
