Shanghai-based airline Juneyao Air has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo aircraft.
The brand new aircraft brings an interesting history: For several months, Juneyao’s A321neo was temporarily stored in Erfurt, Germany, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, while being transferred from Hamburg to Tianjin prior to delivery, the aircraft spent an unplanned month on the ground in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, reportedly due to technical issues. All in all, more than five months lay between the first flight and the final delivery flight.
Juneyao Air used to be an all-Airbus operator until 2018 when the carrier took delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to create its own long-haul network. Besides the newly delivered A321neo and 787-9 Dreamliner, Juneyao Air received six Airbus A320neo jets that will complement the existing fleet of Airbus A320ceo family airplanes.
