Virgin Atlantic has announced that it has ordered fourteen A330-900neo at the Paris Air Show 2019. The commitment includes eight firm orders, while six further A330neos will be leased through a leasing agreement with Air Lease Corporation (ALC). The British carrier also has options for an additional six A330neo aircraft.
The brand new A330-900neo aircraft are expected to join the airline’s fleet from September 2021 and will be powered by Rolls Royce Trent 7000 engines.
Virgin Atlantic will undertake a fleet modernization. Therefore, the brand new A330neo aircraft will replace Virgin’s A330-200 and A330-300 in the future. Furthermore, the carrier will take delivery of its first of twelve Airbus A350-1000 this summer. Virgin currently operates a wide-body fleet of A330, A340-600 and Boeing 747-400 as well as Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
