Mesa Airlines and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have announced that the US regional carrier signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to commence negotiations for a potential order of up to 100 Mitsubishi SpaceJet M100 aircraft, divided into an order for 50 jets and purchase rights for an additional 50 M100s.
Deliveries of the airline’s SpaceJet M100 aircraft would commence in 2024.
The development of the 76-seat M100 aircraft (formerly known as the Mitsubishi Regional Jet MRJ70) was presented during the Paris Air Show 2019. Moreover, Mitsubishi rebranded the ‘Mitsubishi Regional Jet’ family (MRJ) as the ‘SpaceJet’.
Shortly after the Paris Air Show, Bombardier sold its CRJ aircraft programme to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
