Chinese carrier Chongqing Airlines has received its first Airbus A321neo aircraft.
Chongqing Airlines’ A321neo aircraft features a three-class cabin layout with a total of 208 seats, including eight business class seats. According to the carrier, its A321neo will mainly operate on the route from Chongqing to Beijing and Shenzhen. Over the first half of 2020, Chongqing Airlines plans to introduce two additional A321neo.
The airline currently has an all-Airbus fleet of 28 aircraft. This includes A319, A320ceo and A320neo jets. The latter type is part of the airline’s fleet since September 2018.
Based at Chongqing’s Jiangbei International Airport, the carrier was set up in October 2007 through a joint venture between China Southern Airlines and Chongqing International Investment Company. Its route network consists of domestic services within China, as well as international destinations in Asia, including Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand.
The list of Airbus A320neo family operators continues to grow in Asia. Most recently, Juneyao Airlines received its first Airbus A320neo and Air Macau took delivery of its first Airbus A321neo jet in December. Asian airlines account for a large chuck in Airbus’ order book for the A320neo family. In October, Airbus delivered the 1000th produced A320neo family aircraft to Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo. Later that month, the same airline signed an order for another 300 planes.
